The International AIDS Conference, held every two years, draws more than 20,000 people working in the field of HIV, as well as people living with HIV, policy makers and others committed to ending the epidemic. It provides extensive opportunities for sharing and networking across all levels of care and response to the epidemic.

The Interfaith Pre-Conference on HIV takes place prior to the XIX International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC. The event brings together over five hundred religious leaders, faith-based representatives, young people and people living with HIV under the common theme of health, dignity and justice. Pre-conference sessions focus on the response to HIV from faith contexts, advocacy and on the ground responses.

I designed the overall identity used by the Pre-Conference, and developed the website used to inform and register participants of the conference, while also keeping interested parties abroad engaged by providing regular on-the-ground updates.

The Baltimore House is a one-of-a-kind bar and cafe located in the heart of downtown Hamilton at 43 King William Street.

The Baltimore House is an arts venue rich with ambience and mood, thanks to a unique parlour filled with authentic antique Victorian furniture, lamps and trinketry, and at night is awash in the light of chandeliers and neon blue crosses.

I worked on the logo with fellow designers Parker Martin and Justin Wood.

A handful of posters created for various theatrical productions that were performed as part of Black Box Fire’s annual Emerging Artists Series. Black Box Fire is an amateur local theatre company based in Hamilton, Ontario, looking to do theatre that is unique and thought-provoking.

Death of a Roller Coaster is a nostalgia-tinged comedy depicting the last day in the life of Canada’s oldest operational wooden roller-coaster as it is forced into retirement to make room for newer, steel monstrosities.

Man Beast Tango is a comedy that examines the animal instincts that underpin human-kind’s everyday actions, and suggests that perhaps animals and man are far more similar than they appear.

Man Beast Tango was a project that I wrote and directed alongside Parker Martin and James Molloy, in addition to collaborating on the design of the poster.

Furious is an original theatrical production written & directed by Derek Hung and Adam Benish. It was produced as part of the 2010–2011 Honors Performance Series at McMaster University.

In a world where every body-slam, every blood feud and every wrestler is constructed by the writers of Pro Impact Entertainment programming, Furious takes audiences out of the closet and into the ring, as one writer conspires with his lover to introduce the first gay wrestler in a sport dominated by heteronormative audiences.

Student Accessibility Services at McMaster University is an organization founded to assist students with disabilities in their academic and disability-related needs, and provides a number of supports, including classroom accommodations, assistive technologies, note-taking programs, test & exam administration, as well as academic counseling.

I designed a series of posters for SAS, to raise awareness surrounding disability and stigma on McMaster University’s campus. The posters received special recognition from McMaster University’s Office of Public Relations, and have been the subject of numerous requests by various professors looking to include them in their class discussions.

Token was an original theatrical production produced as part of the 2010–2011 Honors Performance Series at McMaster University. The Honors Performance Series tasks upper-year students with writing, directing, and producing their own original theatrical work. Token was written & directed by Nicole Chacra, Jenn Helsdon, & Maddie Zekkou.

Token, a story told from the perspective of the ever-popular straight white male lead, examines the idea of tokenism—the presence of members of a minority group within media solely for the purpose of creating the illusion of inclusivity—who often have no function in the overall plot and are often a stereotyped character.

Founded in 2010 by a group of students at McMaster University, Threadwork is a McMaster OPIRG working group that encourages individuals to think critically about clothing and its implications on the environment, social justice, and the community. Other schools across the province have since founded their own local chapters of Threadwork to continue the work in their local communities.

I was responsible for Threadwork’s promotional efforts, and designed the Threadwork logo, along with posters and additional promotional signage for events, and additional graphics for online advertising on social networking sites such as Facebook.

These are a variety of t-shirt designs I’ve done for various clients, or for my own interests.

The Yellow Wallpaper was the premiere play in McMaster University’s 2010–2011 Honours Performance Series, which tasks select fourth year Theatre & Film students with producing, writing and directing original theatrical productions.The Yellow Wallpaper was adapted from the short story of the same name by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman by directors Emiliano Badillo-Bravin, Matt Bandura and Kristi Boulton. The play retells the story of Gilman’s original epistolary account of a woman marginalized by an androcentric society with preconceived notions of women’s mental health.

In addition to designing a poster for the series, I also performed in the play in the role of the narrow-minded physician, Henry.

McMaster University’s Communication Studies and Multimedia Student Society represents students past, present and future in both Communication Studies & Multimedia, and are responsible for organizing events, parties, fundraisers and more to support both of these departments.

As part of the marketing & promotions team, I was responsible for designing various posters for our student-oriented events and maintaining the Student Society website.
